Conference Report for IAMOT 97
The Sixth International Conference on Management of Technology IAMOT MOT97 took place at Svenska Massan, The Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre in Goteborg, Sweden June 25 - 28, 1997 . 317 delegates from 36 countries, representing educational institutions, corporations, major international organisations and government agencies. The countries´ distribution among the delegates was: Sweden(The Host Country) 39%, Europe without Sweden 26%, USA (The Country of IAMOT Origin) 14%, Other parts of the World 21%.
The Conference provided an interdisciplinary perspective
on current and future issues and problems. The theme for the
Sixth International Conference IAMOT MOT97 was: The creation
of prosperity, business and work opportunities through
technology management. This crucial issue was especially
discussed at the stage summit of the conference by the group
of distinguished scientists and industrialists representing
many continents.
In total, there were 228 presentations, of which 214 were
scientific papers and industrial case papers and there were
additionally 14 key-note presentations without
documentation. All the scientific papers have been blind
reviewed by the committee of international scholars, and the
industrial case papers have been blind reviewed by the
experts appointed through the SMR Production Committee .
Main sponsors of the IAMOT MOT97 Conference were SKF, THE
ESAB GROUP, SAAB, SCANDINAVIAN AIR LINES, SSAB, SCANIA,
VOLVO and ATLAS COPCO. The best scientific paper and the
best student paper were awarded in cooperation with ABB ASEA
BROWN BOVERI.
Highlights from the Conference will be given in the
international edition of the SMR journal, Mekanisten
International. Date of publishing, December 1997.
Important results of the conference are the presentations
of the technology management status world wide, scientific
as well as industrial. Besides these achievements, the
conference triggered activities here in Europe such as: A.
Talks on preparing the idea of a true World Conference in
cooperation with, as suggested, IAMOT(International), Forum
of Technology Management(International), SMR(Sweden),
SIA(Switzerland), IMD(Switzerland), CTH(Sweden),
KTH(Sweden), EPFL(Switzerland) and several other
organisations. Suggested to be in Lausanne, Switzerland in
March 2001.
B. Using scientific and industrial knowledge of
technology management from the international and national
organisations for a pan European project EuroWork/TM. In
order to improve the industrial structures of the European
regions. EuroWork/TM has started in Sweden with a pilot
project involving the first region and the city of Arboga
(Pilot Project Arboga).
